What marks the end of a woman’s fertility and/or menstrual phase? It is called
menopause. This is the time when a woman goes for 12-months straight without
experiencing a period. Typically, menopause begins between the ages of 40 to 50
years old. In the US 51 is the average age for menopause. It is not uncommon
that women begin to experience menopause-related symptoms such as dry skin,
hair thinning, mood changes, sleep problems, night sweats, chills, hot flashes,
vaginal dryness, loss of breast fullness, and irregular periods. For each
woman, the symptoms felt are not the same. Some experience an irregularity with
their period before it eventually stops in totality.
Black Cohosh May Help Reduce Hot Flashes and
A perennial herb native to Eastern North America, Black Cohosh has long been
used to ease childbirth, menopause symptoms, and menstrual irregularities.
Current research has postulated that black cohosh’s effectivity may stem from
its ability to affect estrogen. In a review of the study, it was shown that
women who were taking black cohosh had a decreased occurrence of hot flashes
and night sweats by as much as 26%.
Panax Ginseng May Boost Energy Levels
The daytime pill associated with this menopausal formula contains Panax
ginseng. Panax ginseng has been shown to be effective in fighting tiredness and
may help boost energy levels during the day. It is believed that the
oligopeptides and polysaccharides in ginseng can help improve energy production
and lower oxidative stress in cells may help fight fatigue. Studies also show
that not only can Panax ginseng fight fatigue, but also boost energy in a
review of 155 different studies.
Valerian to Boost
With all the hormonal imbalance that a woman in her menopausal age experiences,
it also wreaks havoc on her sleeping habits. Not only does night sweats and hot
flashes affect her ability to sleep, her mood swings too can affect a restive
and much-needed sleep. The addition of Valerian in the PM tablet
of Nature's Way Menopause formula helps the woman achieve a relaxed
state to help her get a good night’s rest. Valerian has been found to be
effective against GABA which is a neurotransmitter that has a sedative effect
on the body. It can help calm anxiety, improves sleep quality, as well as
reduces the amount of time a woman falls asleep.
L-Theanine To Help Balance
L-theanine is a naturally occurring substance in the body. In fact, it is an
amino acid that the body can produce, and it plays a role in regulating
cortisol, dopamine, and serotonin. Cortisol is the body’s stress hormone.
Dopamine and serotonin influences emotion, sleep, and mood. Thus, an imbalance
in these substances affects a person’s stress and mood levels.
